Recovering from Chronic Hip Pain After Nerve Injury: A Journey to Healing

Four years ago, while training for football, I tore a muscle in my hip. After the injury, I developed hypersensitivity around my hip and lower abdomen. Every normal sensation became painful—wearing shorts with waistbands, taking showers, even sleeping with sheets was unbearable. I had to sleep with a heater just to manage the pain, which felt like I was being stabbed constantly. Sitting made it worse, as the pressure from my upper body compressed the nerves, and the pain was excruciating. I had severe resting pain, a level of agony I never thought was possible. It was difficult to imagine ever getting better, and at my lowest point, simply existing felt unbearable.

I spent almost 23 hours a day confined to my bed for two years. The pain radiated from my lower abdomen, below my belly button, extending outward toward my hip. Even something as simple as water during a shower felt like needles piercing my skin, especially in the inguinal canal area of my hip.

One thing that gave me hope was discovering patient testimonials on Dr. Williams' website. Hearing others talk about their experiences with nerve pain and how Dr. Williams helped them made me feel understood for the first time. It gave me hope that there might be a way out of the pain.

After surgery with Dr. Williams, the pain started to improve. Before, it felt like I was being stabbed in multiple places; after surgery, it was like being stabbed in fewer places. It wasn’t perfect, but it was an improvement. The pain began to lessen over time.

In the last few months, I traveled to Brazil for three weeks, walking around various cities, and even went to Hawaii. I graduated from college and have not needed any pain medications since. I’m incredibly grateful for Dr. Williams' help. Without him, I don’t know where I’d be.
